This policy explains how Start with Max (“I”, “me”) collects, uses and protects your personal information when you use startwithmax.co.nz or contact me. I follow the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and its information privacy principles.
Who I am
Start with Max is run by Max, based in Auckland, New Zealand. Website: https://startwithmax.co.nz. Privacy questions: maxinaucks@gmail.com.
What I collect
- Contact form: your name, email, phone number (optional), the service you’re interested in and your message.
- First Import Checklist download: your first name, email address and whether you tick the box to receive importing tips by email.
- Appointment bookings: the details you enter when you request an appointment, such as your name, contact details, preferred time and what you’d like to discuss.
- Messages and email: anything you send me by email, Instagram, Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp.
- Comments: if you comment on a blog post, the name, email and comment you submit, plus your IP address and browser details for spam checks.
- Website analytics: I use Google Analytics (via Google Site Kit) to understand how visitors use the site, such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and how you found the site. This uses cookies.
Why I collect it
- To reply to your enquiry, provide quotes and deliver the services you ask for.
- To send you the checklist you requested.
- To send importing tips by email, only if you’ve opted in. You can unsubscribe at any time by replying to any email or contacting me.
- To manage appointments.
- To improve the website and understand what content is useful.
Who I share it with
I don’t sell or rent your personal information. I share it only where needed to run the website and provide my services:
- Service providers that host or process data for me: Hostinger (website hosting), Google (Gmail email and Google Analytics) and Meta (Instagram, Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp, if you message me there).
- Suppliers, freight forwarders and customs brokers, when you’ve asked me to source, ship or clear goods for you and they need your details to do that.
- Where required or permitted by law.
Some of these providers store information outside New Zealand. When that happens I rely on providers that are subject to privacy safeguards comparable to those in the Privacy Act 2020.
Cookies
The site uses cookies for analytics (Google Analytics) and basic site functions such as caching and remembering comment details. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work without them.
How long I keep it
I keep your information only as long as I need it for the purpose it was collected, or as long as I’m required to by law (for example, tax and business records). Enquiries that don’t go anywhere are deleted when they’re no longer needed.
Keeping it safe
I take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access, including a secure (HTTPS) website and password-protected accounts.
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask to see the personal information I hold about you and ask me to correct it. Email maxinaucks@gmail.com and I’ll respond as soon as I can, and within the time the Act requires.
If you’re not happy with how I’ve handled your information, please contact me first. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
Changes to this policy
I may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page.
